You Can’t Commit Facebook Suicide

Written on September 15, 2007

The London Times expends no less than 2389 words about committing Facebook “suicide” by deleting your account.

The only problem with the conceit? You can’t commit Facebook suicide- the site saves your connections even if you deactivate your account. So, unlike in real life, Facebook suicide has a guarantee of resurrection (if you want it).

It’s how Facebook makes it easy to come back to the fold. Developers should always do the same. If you believe in your application, you should be convinced that anyone who deletes it will, eventually, realize they made a mistake.
