Will Your App Spam?
Written on January 7, 2008
There’s a paradox for Facebook application developers and, by extension, for your app.
In the present climate, “spam” is necessary for growth. This “spam” typically takes the form of invites and notifications.
However, users are starting to revolt- take, for example, this popular (not safe for work) application. The application is popular because of “spamming,” but it also faces strong criticism from its users. People hate being forced to spam.
So is there a solution? A good application designer can help you convince users to “spam” their friends. But in this climate, not using spam isn’t an option. Maybe Facebook will fix that. Until they do, you can look at sending out a lot of invites.
