What’s Forgotten With New Changes to Invites

Recently, Facebook’s changes to invitations have sparked some interesting points (mainly that Facebook is punishing developers). We’ve already said that Facebook is doing what Ben Bernanke should- curbing inflation for the sake of platform’s longevity. In the long run, these actions are good.
There’s another point that’s been glossed over. Invites were never meant to be the thing that made platform great. In the initial fervor over Platform, it was viral growth that excited pundits and developers. Granted, the market has changed- developers face a supersaturated market. But, in a way, limiting invites and requests helps return Facebook Platform to what it originally was- something everyone can get excited about.
