The Difficulties of an Ad Network

Facebook has been great at cutting down on spam profiles- it easily beats out the fakes on MySpace.

However, now it has to be equally vigilant with advertisements. Facebook Flyers- Facebook’s do it yourself mini-ad network- is overwhelmed by shady survey deals and soft core pornography. It’s already started controversy.

But the real challenge is down the road. As Facebook grows, people will try to sneak through every opening. In order to protect users and the Facebook brand, the site will have to ensure less bad advertisements show up. That’s the only way that real brands- and real money- will invest in the site.
