TechCrunch Takes a Stab at Investigation
Written on November 12, 2007
As experts in Facebook Application Development, we’re used to watching journalists miss the real story.
This week, TechCrunch’s Mark Hendrickson, who previously wrote a totally inaccurate piece about Platform Development (you can see Lonely CEO fighting in the comments), takes another stab at Facebook coverage. The bug he addresses is a minor glitch in directory placement. For developers, it’s old news and not particularly important (especially in light of SocialAds and Facebook’s failure to immediately expand their platform to developers).
However, what’s most notable is that Hendrickson misses the real story. So- the Facebook directory is broken, and its absence is impeding application growth. That short term glitch should prompt questions about Open Social, not Facebook. If a directory is so integral to application growth, then why don’t Open Social partners have their own?
For us, it demonstrates why Facebook is still the place to be.
