Facebook Wants Your Media on Facebook

Written on October 1, 2007

The newsmaker of recent changes to Facebook’s API were permissions related to a user’s status message- Twitter fiends (seemingly ubiquitous in the Valley), could now use Twitter’s Facebook Application to update their official Facebook status. There was much rejoicing.

The more interesting change, however, is like FBJS- it will take a while to ripple through Facebook, but once it does, it will have a greater impact. Facebook removed the need for certain types of photo approval from a user. Now, uploading photos to Facebook Applications is more user friendly and bandwidth friendly. It’s a step toward more robust, photo-enriched applications (that rely on Facebook as much as possible).
