Facebook Begins to Open Up (By Closing Loopholes)

Written on November 8, 2008

Facebook has always been an open platform for developers and brands. However, user information has remained a relatively black hole for both. Facebook reasonably protects user privacy, but that limitation can also restrict what developers and brands show users. To be direct- it’s been difficult to advertise alcohol on Facebook.

Not anymore. Facebook is adding new access and functionality to demographic restrictions. Developers will be able to restrict who sees their applications not only by age, but also by age and country. That allows them to makerestricted applications more open. And, regardless of your age, that’s a good thing.
